(Every track a scene. Every lyric a heartbeat.)

1. “Control”—Halsey
Scene: The moment Xavier discovers Seraphina asleep in his penthouse bed.
Why I love it: The lyrics scream domination, violation, and power imbalance—just like the scene. Seraphina’s unaware, vulnerable, and he’s calculating how to handle this unexpected trespass.

2. “Animals”—Maroon
Scene: The spanking deal. He threatens her with security. She calls his bluff—and submits.
Why I love it: Xavier’s predatory thrill and Seraphina’s reluctant curiosity crash together. It’s not about seduction—it’s about control. And, well, yumminess, right?

3. “Earned It” —The Weeknd
Scene: The aftershock. Her flushed skin. His restraint. The weight of what just happened.
Why I love it: This is where obsession shifts—when he starts to feel. He doesn’t want to admit it but punishing her wasn’t enough. And let’s be honest, I go to this song over and over for the emotional vibe. I just can never get enough of this song.

4. “Nightmare” —Halsey
Scene: Seraphina at Poison Girl, raging about how far she’s fallen.
Why I love it: She’s furious. Humiliated. Empowered by her pain. And Lila’s reminding her—she didn’t break. And this is what I want for all of us.

5. “Bad Romance” —Lady Gaga
Scene: The job offer. The negotiation. The danger of working with the man who destroyed her.
Why I love it: It’s not a love story. It’s a collision. She doesn’t trust him. He doesn’t trust himself. (And yeah, I had a bad romance relationship of my own, so I always call on those memories when writing something emotional.)

6. “Love Me Like You Do”—Ellie Goulding
Scene: Seraphina’s restless night, remembering his touch, pleasuring herself in secret.
Why I love it: She hates that her body betrays her. But she can’t lie—not to herself. This is another song that I listen to for inspiration when I’m writing. I can just feel it and lean into the emotions of it.

7. “Wicked Game”—Chris Isaak
Scene: The kiss. The denial. The line she draws: “No touching.” (Ha!)
Why I love it: Her need terrifies her. She makes rules to protect herself—but neither of them can follow them. For years, I’ve listened to this song. I’ve always found it haunting and evocative. Just, the emotional range of his voice and the way the energy of it reverberates in my heart.

8. “The Scientist”—Coldplay
Scene: The moment she learns how far he went to ruin her. The truth. The heartbreak.
Why I love it: This is her crash. Her unraveling. It’s not just about the past—it’s what it cost her to survive him. And… Coldplay.

9. “Unsteady”—X Ambassadors
Scene: Xavier pacing in his office, haunted by her.
Why it fits: For the first time, he’s not the man in control. She’s all he can think about. And that leaves him totally off-balance.

10. “Fix You”—Coldplay
Scene: Xavier’s POV. The aftermath. Realizing she’s gone.
Why I love it: He built an empire but destroyed the only thing that mattered. Now he’d do anything to fix what he broke—even if it means breaking himself in the process. This taps into his devastation.

11. “I Choose You”—Sara Bareilles
Scene: Her return. On her terms. Not as his captive, but as his equal.
Why I love it: Seraphina reclaims herself—and still chooses him. This matters to me in a relationship. Equal partners. No one giving up who they are.

12. “Rewrite the Stars”—Zac Efron & Zendaya
Scene: The final pages. The future. The vow.
Why I love it: Their love wasn’t supposed to survive. But it does—on ashes, on forgiveness, on fire. And…. Le sigh. 🩷
